It's Always Tropical Romance In Here

The warm, misty interior of the Victorian greenhouse beckons: "Color: A Winter Carnivale" is the Conservatory of Flowers' new special exhibit. It features a "living rainbow" of petals arranged by hue, and a World's Fair atmosphere punctuated by miniature merry-go-round animals and a dollhouse-size replica of the conservatory itself. (Will it match the popularity of the previous display of fabulous carnivorous plants? Only time will tell.) The show has an educational side: Did you know that bees prefer blue flowers, while moth- and bat-pollinated species tend to have white blooms? You probably do know how hummingbirds feel about the color red. So while it's getting gray outside, take advantage of the big white house that's a perfect date spot, mini-vacation, trip back in time, and botanist's paradise — while it's also full of tropical flowers.
