The Roaring Whenevers

Tango La Melodia is a Gypsy jazz band and a sharp-dressed shard of a theater company. Its new production, written and designed especially for Valentine's weekend and the tiny juke joint it calls home, is Miss Ann Peterson's Broken Heart. The theatrical concert's dramatic element has, says Tango La Melodia linchpin Brent Bishop, "a lot of love triangle." So audiences not only enjoy 1920s– and '30s–style entertainment, but also witness fourth-wall interruptions like glimpses into the dressing room and a poetic spoken translation of a song lyric, all in the service of telling poor Miss Peterson's story.
